StudyCivilService.com is an exam-prep platform for New York civil servants founded by two career civil servants with over 30 years of real-world public service experience. Frustrated by outdated, low-quality study guides, they set out to build modern, practical resources that actually prepare New York candidates for state, county, and city civil service exams. My role was to design and implement a professional online store website that clearly communicates their credibility, supports digital product downloads, and establishes trust with first-time visitors.
Goal
The primary goal was to create a clean, authoritative website that positions StudyCivilService.com as a credible alternative to generic, outdated exam prep providers. The site needed to clearly tell the founders’ story, highlight their firsthand experience, and lay the technical foundation for downloadable products and customer communication.
Approach
I designed and built the site on WordPress with a focus on clarity, structure, and scalability. The layout emphasizes the founders’ real-world experience and differentiates their materials from generic study guides written by third-party researchers.
On the technical side, I configured hosting, email integration, and SMTP to ensure reliable communication from the website — a critical requirement for future customer support and digital product delivery. The result is a site that’s easy to manage, professional in tone, and ready to grow as their offerings expand.
Results
StudyCivilService.com launched with a clear message, strong credibility, and a solid technical foundation. Visitors immediately understand why these study guides are different and who they’re learning from. The site is now positioned to support exam-prep resources, downloadable materials, and ongoing customer engagement without needing a rebuild down the road. Within the first month we helped them make 150+ online sales.
