Physician ROI Calculator
I recently wrapped up a custom web calculator project for MedOptim, a medical scribe service throughout Arkansas. This was one of the more technical builds I’ve done in a while. The goal was to help doctors and clinics quickly understand the value of outsourcing their documentation through a simple, interactive tool.
Goal
The primary objective was to build a lightweight, web-based calculator that could be embedded directly on a website. It needed to show physicians how much time and money they could save by using a medical scribe service, including clear ROI. The client wanted something user-friendly, responsive, and visually clean — without requiring login access or a third-party tool.
Approach
I designed the calculator using custom HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, keeping it fully self-contained and embeddable in any WordPress site. The form accepts a few basic inputs like number of patients, average documentation time, and hourly rate. Then, using real-time JavaScript calculations, it displays key metrics like time saved, net monthly savings, and annual ROI. The final build came in at just over 259 lines of code, covering the full logic, layout, and interactivity - all without a paid subscription to a third party plugin.
Results
The finished calculator is fast, responsive, and easy to use. It delivers clear, real-time feedback with every input change, and it works seamlessly across both desktop and mobile devices. The client now has a powerful sales tool they can share with leads to demonstrate real, bottom-line impact. Better yet, it lives entirely on their site — no third-party iframe or monthly service fee required.
